Trainer’s Room: Patriots’ ILB Jerod Mayo to Miss 4-6 Weeks? (MCL)

Good luck trying to decipher the “leaks” out of Patriots’ camp when it comes to last season’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.  Jerod Mayo, the Patriots leading tacker in 2008 suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.
Patriots’ camp doesn’t deny that it’s a Type III sprain, that could conceivably shelve the IDP-star for up to 8 weeks.  However, I would expect Mayo to rejoin the Pats’ defense  closer to the minimum.  If you own him, start prowling the waiver-wire for a replacement, as no one on the Pats will provide the same value in his absence.
