Trainer’s Room: Alex Gordon Out 8-10 Weeks (Hip)
Posted by Mike Caprio April 17, 2009
Like the newest handbag, or the trendiest restaurant in town, it appears the “injury du jour” is a Labrum tear in your Hip.
Â
Â
The latest “Hipster” is Royals 3rd baseman Alex Gordon, who will receive the same procedure, with the same surgeon, Marc Philippon, who performed Alex Rodriguez’s surgery in early April.  The Royals are refusing to set a timetable for his return until after the surgery, but if Alex Rodriguez is any indicator, Gordon should be available in Kansas City sometime in July. Â
Â
As for Alex’s replacements, Royals top prospect Mike Moustakas happens to be a 3rd baseman, and coincidentally had the game winning hit last night for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (HiA), going 3-5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Â However, just 21, Moustakas is not ready for the big leagues just yet. Â Â Look for Drayton Moore and Trey Hillman to mix and match their roster internally with Alberto Callaspo and Mark Teahan covering the hot corner until Gordon is ready to return to the mix.
