Consensus #1 Prospect in Baseball (or Not)?

Consensus #1 Prospect in Baseball (or Not)?

This is a weird time of year for me to be talking about Fantasy Baseball.

Many apologies to our thousands of readers who focus exclusively on baseball—only to have the last three weeks dominated on the site by Fantasy Football.

I mention again that it’s a weird time because in most leagues, including my own, July 31st signals the day when all trading is done for the season and your team, as presently constructed will lead you to a championship or not.

For a Keeper League GM there may be times when an “unknown” prospect sneaks through waivers or gets dropped inexplicably (as Vin Mazzaro fell to me in one league with ML eligibility), but all-in-all the time for scouting prospects in hopes of buying low has effectively come to a close for the 2009 season.

In an effort to satisfy the gnawing need for more prospect oriented talk, I figured I would provide a primer for our “revised” Top Fantasy Baseball Prospects list…one that includes players who have not made the big leagues yet, but will be poised to make a major impact on your fantasy roster in 2010 and beyond.

During the off-season we’ll profile many of these players you may never have heard of in greater detail; though many of these guys have been profiled earlier this season at Keeper League GM.   For a deeper dive into who these players are and what that can mean for your team, check out our archives of Top Fantasy Baseball Prospects on the Farm.
