Fantasy Baseball Stockwatch: Kelvim Escobar to Join Angels Rotation This Weekend
Posted by Mike Caprio June 3, 2009
Â
The Angels and skipper Mike Scioscia deserve a lot of credit for weathering storm that has been the 1st half of the 2009 season—from the tragic death of Nick Adenhart, to the injuries of key contributors Vladimir Guerrero, John Lackey, Ervin Santana, and super set-up man Scot Shields.
Â
Just 4.5 games back from the division leading Texas Rangers, the Angels will complete their rotation with the return of  Kelvim Escobar on Saturday after nearly two years away from the big leagues while recovering from right shoulder surgery.
His last full season in the major leagues Escobar was:
195.2 Innings, 18 Wins, 7 Losses, 3.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP (2.42 K/BB)
Escobar’s most recent rehab outing was not pretty with 4 earned runs over 5 innings on Monday night at AAA Salt Lake.
Escobar is an intriguing option in deeper fantasy leagues; if he is still available in your league, he may be worthy of a waiver-wire flyer.
